Christofer Aven

Even as a young child, I saw myself as an artist.  My idea of an artist was a painter wearing a smock, a beret and painting on a canvas on an easel.

In my adventures as an Artiste Extraordinaire, (a self-proclaimed title) I discovered that being an artist is about problem solving, about asking that wonderful question, ""What would happen if I did this?"" (fill in the blank with various techniques, materials, colors, textures, etc.)

I've explored and experimented with just about every artistic medium you can name.  While many did not hold my interest, a few did.

My paintings (Phaintings and Digital Art) are intended to spark your imagination, your creativity--even if you claim you're not creative.

My work is an invitation to see from a different perspective, especially when the thought crosses your mind, ""How did she do that?"" or ""Why did she do that?

Often in movies a character goes to an art gallery and, having no clue what they're looking at, their comments are frequently along the lines of, ""Well, I don't know anything about art, but I know what I like and I like that."" (whatever they're looking at)

I think that is the whole point of art--for you, the viewer, to trust your own feelings, your initial reactions--whether you like it or not, whether you understand it or not, whether you buy it or not.Christofer Aven, Artiste Extraordinaire
